When did you know you wanted to be an artist?

I have been interested in the arts since I was a young child. I knew by high school I wanted to work professionally in the arts and went on to get my BFA in college.

How does your personal story/background influence your work?

I think every work of art is a little bit of a self-portrait.

Which of your works are you most proud of?

Of my recent work, I am proud of 'This Is Just The Beginning'. I worked on this piece for a couple of months and creating one hundred baby sea turtles to collage onto canvas was satisfying.

What is the hardest part about being a professional artist?

As a professional artist you are in business and being in business for yourself means self-discipline and self-motivation.

I think the hardest part about being a professional artist is finding balance. Artist is such a passionate endeavor and I tend to get lost in my work.
