James River Arts is looking for individuals, families, and businesses to take part in a public art crawl across Lynchburg and the surrounding counties.

This is a family friendly, weekend long event from August 12th through 13th. We welcome art installations of all shapes and sizes, even performances, through out Lynchburg and the surrounding counties. This means you can decorate your front yard, driveway, balcony, or windows- as long as your public art is visible from the road or sidewalk! 

Participation is free for individuals, groups, and businesses.

Guidelines for Participating

Guidelines

  • Art installations should not be offered for sale. Performances should not be ticketed. This event is purely to showcase public art/performance.

  • Pending approval, participant shall provide an outdoor work of art or performance(s) during the weekend of August 12th-13th, 2023. We encourage participants set up on Friday, August 11th.

  • In the event of inclement weather, the Art Crawl will have August 19th and 20th as a rain date.

  • Art and/or performances must be able to be viewed from the street and/or sidewalk.

  • Participant consents to their provided address to be included on the Pop-Up Art Crawl Map and accompanying marketing materials. James River Arts shall create and maintain a map of all approved participants.

  • The first 20 approved participants will receive a JRA Pop-Up Art Crawl yard sign for use during the event.

  • Participant agrees to refrain from depicting nudity, profanity, gore, or dark imagery. Family friendly works are encouraged. If the content of your art/performance does not adhere to this rule, James River Arts may choose not to include you on the event map.

  • If the art is performance based, the participant agrees to include times of the performance in the application.

  • James River Arts shall promote the Art Crawl through press releases, website, social media, eblast, and the like.

  • James River Arts shall have the right to photograph or reproduce depictions of the participating artwork for publicity purposes. It is understood that the work of art could be photographed by the general public.

  • James River Arts is not responsible for the actions/behaviors of individuals viewing the artwork.
